The refurbishment of the heritage building was done through restoration and conservation processes. These are important in retaining and maintaining the building's historical features and architectural elements. The refurbishment was classified to be in 3 phases, with phase one comprising of three main areas of the building: the Lounge, the Cellar, and the Plant Room.
After several visits, the site investigation was properly conducted by the Construction Project Manager, Omoniyi Talabi,and the chairman of the Trust, Robert Wright. Mapping out fabrics to be fixed, replaced, and which to be conserved. Following this, different contractors and subcontractors were invited to submit quotations for the areas apportioned to them, based on their specialty.
We encountered quite some challenges on the three-phase connection. These challenges range from time line given for the completion of the grid connection to the installation of the 3-phase metre and its connection. Initially, a week was scheduled for the external excavation, connection and the backfill of the proposed excavated area, but communication issues between the company and her personnel actually got this extended for two weeks.
